The food is fairly expensive so you could take a picnic. If you plan on going on many of the rides you should invest in the wristbands and they'll save you a fair bit.
Wicksteed Park is a great theme park and as my wife and I have two kids aged 7 and 10, it was perfect as the fair rides and the playgrounds at the park are mainly aimed at 12 year olds and under. We didn't have to pay an entrance fee to get in, however we did have to pay £5 to park the car in the car park but that was for the whole day. It is a massive place and has so much to do but obviously first we had to take the girls onto the rides. Instead of buying lots of tokens for the rides, we opted to get a wristband each which meant we could go on all the rides for free. The wristbands cost £15 for kids and £10 for adults which I thought was pretty reasonable compared to the tokens. The rides are not exactly white knuckle rides as they're more for younger kids which was good because our girls loved most of them. After going on a few rides, we went to get something to eat at one of the many cafes and restaurants. We all had fish'n'chips which went down really well after all the activities. After our food we had a stroll around the park and found this big green dome inside of which there is a simulator with screens which, when you stare at it, makes you feel as if you are flying. At one point we were 'flying' over New York and being chased by police.
